Holiday in Dayton

Could not goo away from Dayton this long weekend. Well...just Stuck up here. Trying to enjoy the most of what i have here then!

It was my flat mates birthday a couple of days back. Not really the PRTY kinda day...it was a tuesday. neways he took us out for lunch. In the evening after office we were just too restless to sit home...and too tired to go newhere! Wanted to have fun but not with more people - it would have meant more involvement of the social skill...and so more involvement of the brain ;) !
We went to Ceaser's Creek. It's a small dam/river about 25miles from here. t'was difficult to find it at first, specially when it was 8:30 pm in the night and all we could see was relections of moon in the water. Neways it was a nice little trip we made. The photo in my last post is of the same. Obviously you cannot see the lake in the background...t'was too dark!!!

On Friday night i played cricket with a few colleagues. Right next to their house in the parking area! It's a good things the neighbours did not call 911. Ya, i thought it was late too - 1am.
Saturday whizzed passed. Went to Cincinnati. There is a beautiful view over the Ohio river bridge. Would upload them to yahoo.
the boys' trip to ceaser creek!

LA trip

The LA trip was good. Got over with important (mostly unimportant to me!) office work on Friday night and started for LA on Saturday. Ufff it took 7hours! The peak of boredom while travelling within the country - can't sleep, nothing much to eat, no TV, noone to talk to...ahhh...It was a dull start to the vacation but that was perhaps the only dull moment.

Reached LA around 10pm. Mama mami had come to pick me up. Agra nanaji was also supposed to arrive the same night. We waited, and then we waited. And then finally after we waited his flight arrived :). I met him after a long time. But we could not go together; airport auth. had already arranged for his brief stay in LA. Well...we went back home. It was pretty late and we slept as soon as we reached home.

Sunday, we started early morning for Universal studios. I was excited - i was gonna meet a few hollywood celebrities! nah! just kidding! The anonymity (if this is a word!) of the whole experience in front of me was exciting.
What i did at Universal ? - Duh! you gotta do more reading pal! refer to my previous post. Thanks.

Monday i slpt like i'd never slept before! woke up and mami was there to prepare lunch. Watched a couple of movies, and in the evening we went for a walk. baith ke gappe maare...internet pe US ke Bhargava's ke bare main pata kiya etc!
Oh n I had a lot of home made goodies to eat - pav bhaji, rajma-chawal, bhindi, gobi, salad!(who as the time to cut salad as a bachelor:)), roti...

On Sunday i went to Mama's office. Worked up his laptop to get it on the internet. Without which it was really just another dumb machine! later that morning he dropped me off to the airport.
LA trip over.

Ha! not yet! the flight back home...
My connecting flight from Dallas was at 8:50pm in the night. I reached Dallas at 7:50. It's a big airport and they have airport trains running around the terminals. Even though i had time i thought of taking the airport train to reach another terminal for my Dayton flight. Now from 7:55 to 8:40 i was STUCK in the airport train. Donno what had happened, the doors were closed as they opened automatically only at the stations and the train was in the middle of nowhere. When they started again at about 8:38, it took 2 minutes to reach the next station. I just got out and started pace walking towards my terminal. Was barely able to reach there at 8:50:8:55...they din't leave me since i was a connnecting flight passenger. Direct flight passengers miss their flights!

gotta go now!

let go

hmmm...would it seem that i've been writing about too many project parties on my blog? I mean do i give the impression that i've been partying more than working?
I thought so. You are right...i've been working hard :o)
Neways, i have this quarterly project party this friday. It will be at D&B again. This time we'll be low on budget i think. Will have to look into that issue!

1...2...3...mind swaying....
It's time to let go. I have to remind myself every now and then!
Like i said - itna acha dimaag hai. uski sunni chahiye mujhe!

a week - II

oh and in case you are wondering...my leg feels much better now.

Had gone for a small celebration of the Release5 of my project. Although i've been part of release 5 since only a week (am officially a Release4 resource as well...it's complicated...don't ask!) i was invited to join the party. Am glad i din't miss it. We went to this club called J D Legends. It has a bowling alley, a sports bar, and sand volleyball courts. It felt amazing after playing volleyball afters years....and that too beach volleyball! My service was landing on the right spots that time!

Today had lunch in one Indian resturant, and dinner in another. Dinner was a treat from my colleague, as she's gonna leave Dayton pretty soon and join a new project in Detroit...

tata!

a week

hmmm...long time since i blogged here. It's been a week today. You missed me din't ya?

Well! Had a long day. Woke up at 11am (inc ase you are wondering...that's early by my standards!), thanks to my over-active roomies! They keep the place alive. And i am not left behind at doing the same!

Missed a trip to Niagara this weekend. But there is nothing to worry! I missed it so i could work hard and not miss the LA trip that i'll be taking this coming weekend! Ha ha! yes! i'll be away from this place for some time. I need a break. Don't you need a break every now and then. And if you don't think so...and i urge you to. 'cause you only 'Think' that you don't need a break. It's only when you take that you realise what good it does to you. I can say that for You 'cause i am also a human being like you ;o)

Am looking to buy a car. I am trying for a coupe. Was initially looking at Mitsubishi eclipse, Pontiac firbird and the kinds - affordable and highly sporty. But after speaking to Akshia and Avinash mama i've decided otherwise. Not that i've stopped looking at coupes! Now i've started looking for a Honda or a Toyota coupe. Read a lot of reviews. Have narrowed down to Honda Civic/ Toyota Celica. Atleast these are the ones i should be able to afford...marginally!
My roomie has already sold our car sicne he'll leave US on 21st. We'll have to give up possession of the car by 18th. I'll rent out a car then, and keep looking for a car for me own. This time the rental ain't gonna be no big car. Yep...me will be a bit sensible (as akshia and mom and dad call it! he he!) and take a small car - as that will save both rental as well as insurance!

Guess what!!!! I'll be the one organizing the project party for this quarter as well!!!! he he! i get myself into it everytime you'd think. You are right. just thought it would be another way to make 'em feel dependent on me. I play my part and you keep me here kinds....

Me got a salary raise. yippee! Being band A got the big increment. Well....actually i got the highest increment among the miserly increments that they give :o)
Don't mean nothing to me while i'm here. Offshore pe jaake alag baat hogi ;)

Cheers
