how much

do i really want another 2 years of academics or just 1?
Why the need for mba?
Which course? Which college?
how much money would i need if i have to do an mba?
in essense how much time do i need to spend here to be able to support myself for the mba?

many of these questions would be answered once Akshia does his thing! Everything he's doing now, is creating a path as well an alternative for me.

San Francisco

I was home alone on Wednesday after Benz left for LA and Milu left for Vegas. Came back from work at around 6pm. Din't feel like cooking any thing. Had maggi (maggi has been the backup meal for me most of my adult life - when i've stayed away from home!). Went to the gym. It was 10pm...worked on the computer...i really don't remember what i did, but i finally went to sleep around 1am.
Well woke up at 4:15am! Just changed and left. Had to park the car near the airport before i took the flight to SFO at 6am. This parking costed just $25 for 6days. That was quite a difference from the park n go people who were offering the space for $48!

The flight was okay. They gave me a free headphone to listen to new XM Satellite radio on the plane. No food was served (how could one possible survive hungry by waking up at 4am and not get nething till 12pm)! I picked up a snack at the airport. I was dying to eat!

Hemant mama started off late from Sacremento and was not going to reach SFO before 2:30pm. Pulkit had joined them last night. He had a sudden plan to visit them on Tuesday. So i drove off to Mr. Raghu Bhargava's house in San Hose. Met nani's mami when i reached there...Raghu himself was not home! and neither were his 3 kids Neha, Ritu & Rishi. Well i passed time watching TV.

hmmm...at this point in my story, it seems i will go on and on and will take up atleast 3pages in this sfo story...so i'll cut short!

Hemany mama, mami, utsav, pranav & pulkit reached San Hose around 3pm. Was happy to see them all! Meanwhile we had been working on the menu for the thanksgiving menu. We cooked turkey. Yes! Spent thankgiving the American traditional way! There were Yams (sweet potato), tortilla chips with Hemant mama's chutneys...bread, some veggi stuff for the veggies. Stuffed myself to the brim. And went to sleep around 11pm...afterall i had almost not slept at all for 48 hours!
Woke up at 10am, dressed up and we left for San Francisco downtown. Surprisingly we found free parking space on thanksgiving day! It was unbelievable! although we soon realised that all parking was free due to public holiday :p. Anyways we went to Macy's...din't buy nothing there...clothes seemed good and cheap, but was in no mood for shopping. We went to the Coit Tower. It's probably at the highest point in SFO. The view from the top was great! We had Thai lunch. Drove around the downtown...the streets were soooooo steep! It was amazing (will upload pics). We went to watch golden gate bridge. It looked beautiful. The wind was pretty strong on the little mountains from mwhere we saw and photographed the bridge...most of my pics are shaky!

Anyways, later in the evening we drove back to Davis. It was about a couple of hours drive.
On Saturday, we went hiking, went to the univeristy campus, tried bowlinng but it was all booked :(, played air hockey :). Utsav tried a few of the other games at the entertainment center.
On Sunday we went to visit the Sacremento downtown. It was once known to be full of muggers and gangs and bad people...but now it is very safe and has infact become a tourist attraction.
We saw about a 1000 harley davisons near the Capitol (work place of the governor - Mr. Arnie). It was some kinda meeting festival for all Harley drivers. no bikes with mama, but we did get to do a lot of cycling :p

Overall it was a relaxing vacation. Had good food all the time. Mama likes cooking and making new stuff...and mami is not a bad cook at all either. we played (or we Were Made to) a lot of bonus (a card game) with Utsav! Childish masti with Pranav.

Came back on Tueday morning.

Harry Da Puttar

Mr. Potter! Well this was a kids’ delight again. No wonder the hall was full of kids. Uwaaahhh….mommmmmmy…and all those silly noises…tsk!

The initial half was pretty boring…I was like wondering what’s going on? What is all this leading to?! The next half was pretty much okay. Nothing too exciting. Special effects were okay. I’d rate this as 6.5/10.

We watched it on Tuesday night…ya it was a working day. But the next day mulu and chote were leaving for Vegas and LA. And the previous week Sunday we could not get the tickets – it was sold out! Amazing!

snow!

There were clouds but there was no rain…wait something’s falling…oh it’s just flakes…oh my God! It’s snowing!
Sob! The white days have arrived!
Atleast here the weather has been slowly changing. So it was easier for the body to get used to the cold…
What I mean is it was easier for us than it was for the New Yorkers. In NY, Wednesday was 60F. Thursday was 25F with 1 feet of snow! Ha ha! Na na na na!

Today morning when I came out, the car door won’t open! It was stuck to the body…rather it was snowed to the car body :)

My design

He said he did not favour my design. And that there were too many ambiguities.

Okay there were some... :) But like everything has a reason. This one had too. It was not my design to start with. I was only adding more details. And then even though i had removed the ambiguities after first review, this guy gave pichining comments based off the old design. Highly unwarrented, as well as unprofessional i'd say. Maybe that's one of the reason why he is still at the position that he is even with his great technical abilities.

A thing i learned - not to take ownership of work you don't originally own. Even if you have to, make sure you understand and get the ambiguities removed before someone rasies a finger on you!

Humdum movie

A cute little idea. Like just about the perfect recipe for bollywood masala.

There are so many scenes that i thought were stolen from various hit movies. I mean i could just picture the original scene when watching the copied version in this movie.

A rating of **.5/5. No good songs. Some scenes are hilarious but mostly because they seemed highly unsituational in contexts.

Oh and the game show over which this movie is based - is never really gonna work in real life. ofcourse reel life is different.

Doom 2005

Rock played the villain yet again. Atleast in this one he started off late ;)

The movie is not scary. It's not a thriller. It's just a theartrical edition of the game with the essense of movie masala!

There is a brief 3 minute scene where the movie screen is just like what they have in the game. You know, only the gun showing and bang bang bang (like in the poster)

washington main greh pravesh

The flight departure was at 6am. Ahhhh....i woke up at 4:15 and left at 4:45 :(

The night before i went to the market and bought gifts for bhaiya bhabhi & Loni. Bhua ke liye kuch nahi mila...
Went to attend the diwali project party at the club house at 9. won jaldi 5 and single line in tambola :), missed the dance to come back home to pack. around 12 went to the markets to buy roti and stuff for roomies while i was away! slept around 1:30.

Washington main Rajma Chawal khaya, Isuzu Rodeo chalayi, Gulab Jamun khaya, chole chawal naan khaya. Puja main aanso bahaya.
Bhaiya, bhabhi, Loni, bhau and phuphaji were really nice. I had a good time with family.

departure flight was also at 6. The airport was 40miles from home. we started at 4:15.
Damn i'm still sleepy!
I'm afraid i'm getting into the habit of not sleeping much. In college that was okay...because my body felt sleepy all the time and i knew i needed the sleep...but now, i don't feel it.
